Last week I started reading Game of Thrones by George R.R.Martin after I was impressed by the Game of Thrones series on HBO. The Game of Thrones series is so impressive, I just couldn’t help look it up and order the book. So far I have read 400 pages and have came to realise that the books are in a totally different league. It is engaging, intricate, original and beautifully written. This is the first book of A Song of Ice and Fire series. A Song of Ice and Fire series is quite an omnibus, there are already 5 books with 2 planned for future release and three prequel novels available and several more planned. So starting this series in a huge investment of your time but from what I have read so far it is totally worth it.

But that is not the actual problem I am facing right now. I am a bibliophile and always read the book (the good ones) before watching the movie or series. But this time round both the book and the series are just awesome. The Game of Thrones series had so many (stunning/ what the F***) moments and the quality is so high that I shy away from reading the book so as not to ruin the (stunning/ what the F***) moments. But then the book has the story in detail and any bookworm with tell you the importance of reading the book before watching its picturisation. So I am confused… I don’t know weather to

  1. Read the books before the series. [or]
  2. wait for the series and then read the books

what do you suggest?

LOL, y’know, I’ve not seen anyone makin’ such a fuss about an issue like this. :D If you have the time, just go and read the books – they’re different experiences than films, anyway. Besides, it’s not like you can actually do much: neither as a film, nor as a book is the story finished yet if I’m right, so it’s not like you’re gonna spoil the ending for yourself. :D

it will not spoil the ending but it will spoil the events like Ned Stark dying, the dragons being born etc. Because of the series I am able to put faces to the characters when I read the book and I am understanding the story much better and in more detail.
