Last week Google Docs got support for .doc and .docx attachments. Today mobile version of Google Docs was released for Android, iPhone and iPad only. You can now view PDFs, .ppt, .doc and .docx files you’ve uploaded to your documents list, without needing to download the file.

The feature is pretty cool and useful and it is available only on iPhone, Android and iPad. This and others features released by Google lately is available only for Google’s own Android operating system and iOS – Symbian users are left out of many of these features which makes Symbian platform unappealing. And N8 is the last Symbian N Series Smartphone. N series is the Flagship Smartphone segment of Nokia and it won’t be shipping with Symbian anymore. Symbian will be used by mid tier and low end Smartphones… that would make Symbian more unattractive in the eyes of premium customers and developers. So what about Symbian 4 – we have no idea about that.

All in all the deal doesn’t seem to be sweet or even worthy and it’s no wonder Nokia hardcore fans are moving to Android and iPhone. My friend Micky Aldridge has made the decision to switch to iPhone… read his announcement and reasons for switching here, and his views on the upcoming Nokia devices is also a great read.

So tell me guys, do you still have faith in Nokia/Symbian or are you switching to other platforms?

I bought the N97 for alot of money and the best thing i've gotten out of it is the ability to sync with my google apps account. Everything else is about symbian is poor at best (except for multi tasking which rocks, but is severly hindered by the pathetic amount of ram nokia is putting into it's devices. I'm considering an HTC android based handheld.

N97 syncing with Google apps!>? You are the first one who is satisfied with the way N97 syncs with Google. Yes, Multitasking is best in Symbian and it is hindered by the amount of ram in the device. I too am switching to Android device… Nexus one most probably because Google will keep it updated with all the latest stuff.

I am one of the frustrated Symbian users. I have been looking for really good GTD apps and the ones available for Nokia are so obsolete. :( To make it worse, the best GTD applications online seem to be uninterested in developing their apps for Symbian. Its either for the iPhone, Android or the Blackberry. What a shame.

So, am I changing mobiles soon? Seriously? Yes. Might get an Android or worse, an iPhone. lol

same is the condition with everyone Alma. But things seems to be improving — according to Nokia World — but sadly it is still nowhere near android and iPhone.

Just a suggestion — android is better than iPhone.
