gmail for iPad has got new compose mail interface in which now instead of splitting the screen between your inbox and the compose view, you get a big full screen compose window with the rest of the background dimmed out so that the rest of the text won’t be distracting. To try out Gmail on the iPad, just go to gmail.com in Safari. Currently the new interface is only available in US English, support for other languages will be added later.

In April 2009, we announced a new version of Gmail for mobile for iOS and Android. Among the improvements was a complete redesign of the web application’s underlying code which allows us to more rapidly develop and release new features that users have been asking for, as explained in our first post. We’d like to introduce The Iterative Web App, a series where we will continue to release features for Gmail for mobile.

I have to say – only iOS (you know what I mean) and android are the only platforms which are getting these cool new updates. How long will Symbian users have to wail to get these kind of updates, or I should ask – Will Symbian ever get these updates?
