I’m a bookworm, I read and complete a novel a week. I’m looking at iPad from the eBook reader perspective.
Kindle, Nook and other eBook readers have to watch out for the iPad and step-up their game but how much can they actually step-up?
The iPad is providing much more functionality than an eBook reader, you are getting music, movies, games, internet and a whole lot of apps and interesting Web 2.0 services.
Kindle, Nook and other eBook readers are just eBook readers but iPad is eBook reader + (movies, music, games, apps etc.) So here, without doubt iPad is a more attractive package.
You’d argue that Kindle or Nook has way more eBook titles than iBookstore. Yes, but remember iBookstore has just started and it already has publishers like Penguin Books, HaperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Macmillan Publishers and Hachette Book Group USA. A lot more would come eventually.
Ironically the iPad also has Kindle app so it doesn’t really matter if the eBook you want is available in iBookstore or not. It is available in iPad in the Kindle app via the Amazon Store. And not just Kindle app, I’m sure other eBook readers like Barnes & Noble ereader, Stanza, Wattpad, Kobo eBooks will also make it into iPad. Don’t forget, we are not talking about success of iBookstore, we are talking about success of iPad.
Many tech gurus, geeks, apple fanboys and normal people are saying that eBook reading experience in iPad is better than Kindle.
Love it or hate it, you can’t deny that iPad is the best eBook reader around.
